RUSKINGTON: The way it was.

The Station

The station was a grand building and boasted a number of staff, a station Master's house, Staff cottages, a large goods yard with a coal merchant and various other buildings. Most importantly it had a warm, comfortable, and spacious, wating room. A large ornate canopy sheltered passengers from the elements when they left the waiting room to board their train - with a similar one on the opposite platform for passengers alighting from, or boarding, the southbound trains. All this has gone, now there are just bare platforms.
