The water tower
The Water Tower was built in 1900 to provide clean water for the inhabitants of the village. Pattinsons the builders were responsible for the erection, their supervisor being George Clark of Pinfold Lane, who had vast experience in the construction of buildings of importance. A Council Office and storage provision was also built in front of the tower. |
A view of the Water Tower from Millview Road, named because the post mill on Dorrington Road was visible from the cottages on the left.

Grandma Peatman is standing on the doorstep of the bake house in Westgate. Grandpa took his Bird's Eye View photographs from the platform in front of the arched door, half-way up the tower on the right hand side. Sadly it is now totally demolished. |
